Wie sehen junge Menschen in Ghana ihre ideale Kindheit?

Das international ausgerichtete Projekt StrInGEnt lädt alle Hochschulangehörige und Interessierte herzlich zu einem öffentlichen Vortrag (hybrid) in englischer Sprache von Frau Vivian Acquaye (Ph.D. cand.) ein. Eine deutsche Übersetzung ist gewährleistet.

Vortrag: Vivian Acquaye (Ph.D. cand.), Dozentin, University of Education, Winneba, Ghana: „Childhood narratives are the authentic evidence of children’s existence: narrating children’s fantasy of an ideal childhood“

Zur Person:

Vivian N. A. Acquaye (Ph.D. cand.) ist Dozentin an der University of Education, Winneba, Ghana. Sie ist Master und M.Phil.-Absolventin jeweils in English Education. Ihre Lehre beinhaltet Kurse zu Kinderliteratur, allgemeiner Literatur und Englisch in der Grundschulpädagogik. Ihr Forschungsinteresse gilt der Kindheitspädagogik, insbesondere der Kinderliteratur, mit einem Schwerpunkt auf Vorstellungen von Kindern über eine ideale Kindheit, um ihnen eine Stimme in sie betreffenden Fragen zu geben. Vivian Acquaye vertritt die Ansicht, dass Menschen, insbesondere Minderheiten, nur dann eine authentische Existenz haben, wenn sie sich aktiv an der Gestaltung ihrer eigenen Literatur beteiligen.

Der Vortrag „Childhood narratives are the authentic evidence of children’s existence: narrating children’s fantasy of an ideal childhood“ ist eine Untersuchung der Vorstellung junger ghanaischer Heranwachsender über eine ideale Kindheit. Wie sehr unterscheidet sie sich von ihrem tatsächlichen Leben? In ihrem Vortrag stellt Vivian Acquaye ihre Forschungsergebnisse vor.

Ms Vivian N. A. Acquaye (Ph.D. cand.) is lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba, Ghana. She possesses an M.A. and M.Phil. in English Education. She teaches Children’s Literature, General Literature and English Language related courses in the Department of Basic Education. Her research interest is in Childhood Studies, specifically, Children’s Literature, with a focus on children’s fantasy about ideal childhood with the aim of giving them a voice in issues of their concern. She holds the view that only when people, especially minority groups, engage actively in creating their own literature that their existence is authenticated.

“Childhood narratives are the authentic evidence of children’s existence: narrating children’s fantasy of an ideal childhood” is an exploration of young Ghanaian adolescents’ fantasy of an ideal childhood. How different is it from their actual lives? Vivian Acquaye will give us insights into her research discoveries.
