"Knowledge" from Winneba to Berlin

A visit to the partner university UEW in Ghana highlights the active exchange of knowledge between Winneba and Berlin—and brings a special gift to the EHB.

On the very first day of her two-week visit to the partner university UEW (University of Education Winneba, Ghana), Prof. Dr. Natascha Naujok received a student macramé piece as a gift from Dr. Kwame Kyere Diabour, Head of the Department of Art Education (see photo below). The fact that the word “Knowledge” appears on the piece aptly symbolizes the exchange of knowledge between partner universities—as well as the significance of shared experiences gained during such encounters.

On May 12, 2026, Naujok presented the gift to the President of the EHB, Prof. Dr. Sebastian Schröer-Werner. Also present were Vice President Prof. Dr. Michael Komorek, Head of the International Office Tanja Reith, and “incoming” student Gideon Boateng from the UEW. Natascha Naujok and Gideon Boateng had already met at the UEW; at the EHB, they now regularly exchange ideas in the seminar “Language Acquisition and Multilingualism.”

The ongoing English-language seminar offerings enable “incoming” students to complete a full semester at EHB even without extensive German language skills. In doing so, they contribute their perspectives and knowledge to the seminars, acquire new insights alongside EHB students and international peers, and gain experiences that are only possible on-site. In this way, “knowledge” ultimately finds its way back to Winneba.
