Protestant University of Applied Sciences

The EHB is a public corporation based in Berlin and is a state-recognised higher education institution. It is self-governing and its management bodies are the Board of Trustees, the Rector, the Academic Senate and the Council. The supporting body of the university is the Evangelische Kirche Berlin-Brandenburg-schlesische Oberlausitz (EKBO – Protestant Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia).

In addition to the two core tasks of teaching and research, the third pillar of the EHB is the area dealing with its third mission. The connected area of further education at the university offers job-related continuing education as well as ongoing academic education, research and knowledge transfer.

About us

The origins of the EHB, as a place of professional study in the fields of social work, health and education, go back to the founding year of its predecessor institution in 1904, when a course financed by the Protestant Church was first started to train young girls and women.

Organisation and structure

The university is self-governing and serves education through research and teaching, continuing education and training as well as the preparation for practice-oriented and academic tasks.
